Christina Rodriguez-Unalt or “C. Rod. Unalt” is an illustrator of all things whimsical. She has been creating images since she was in kindergarten and professionally for over a decade. She graduated in 2007 from the University of Hartford, where she also received her Master’s in Illustration in 2020. Her career began as a scenic painter at a creature shop, where she painted murals and large-scale sculptures for mini golf courses, storefronts, windows, and parade floats. She has illustrated four picture books "A Bailar!/ Let's Dance!", "I Want to be a Bald Eagle", "The Big Bong Boo", and "The President Did What?". Her work has also appeared in children’s magazines and educational textbooks. Her work has been exhibited in the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles competitions and she is an active member of The Society of Children's Books Writers and Illustrators.
Christina teaches narrative illustration and introductory illustration and animation to students at Montclair State University, as well as a continuing education adult picture book class at Princeton. She currently lives with her husband, their children, a cuddly pup named Yogi and two mischievous kitties, Meeko and Lola, all of whom are a constant inspiration for her own stories and illustrations.
